Why would my computer go off when I turn my sound on?

Computer turns OFF when you turn on sound (i don't know what that means also.. May be opening some application related to music or movies) or turn on your speakers.?? In the latter case, it could be a power draw problem if you've powered speakers.. Happens mostly when you connect your PC and all the peripherals including your powered speakers through a UPS which is not able to take up that much load..
