GTX 470 or HD 5850 for 3d work and gaming?

Hi everyone,

Im building a new system and I need your advice on which GPU will be better for a high-end gaming and 3d modeling and mild rendering machine? i cant decide between the GTX 470 and the HD 5850 GPUs, i have heard they are about the same when gaming but that nvidia's cards are more suitable for 3d work, is that true?

Im going to OC and use Sly/Crossfire...

Hello and welcome to the forums
First of all i edited the topic title,because it says 4850 and you are asking about 5850.
GTX 470 is faster than a 5850 by about 10% but it runs hotter and has more power consumption
And for 3D works,the difference isn't much because 3D works mainly benefit from a faster CPU rather GPU
