Is this a decent gaming system...I was a bit worried about the GPU if it would be fast enough ?

Looks good. However, you should be able to drop in the HD 5970 instead of the 5870...

Is the 5970 worth the extra investment? if so, which one,? Sapphire, XFX, ?

The sapphire one has great combo's with monitors as I linked.

Technically you can get a 5870 for $351 ATM, but thanks to the amazing $110 off combo deal, it still ends up being $100 more than a 5970 by itself.

Thanks a lot for the advice...

BTW: I think I need a decent keyboard, mouse, and speakers (for gaming primarily)....any suggestions?

Lol ok, that above post was me thinking ahead of my writing. I mean you could get 2 5870's for $351 each, but thanks to combo deal, they still end up $100 more than the 5970.

Anyway, standard mouse suggestion is mx518, keyboard is a saitek eclipse.

Honestly though, peripherals choice completely depends on what fancy features you want.
