Im using the Asus Rampage III Formula mobo and I just bought the Genius SW-5.1 3005 speaker system for gaming purposes. I plugged in speakers to subwoofer and into the audio outputs on the mobo and only one output is working (2 satellite speakers are working, the other 3 speakers and sub are not). Am i just not plugging these in correctly or does the mobo audio only support 2.1? Or is my mobo malfunctioning?

Do I need a sound card?

Thanks.

Solution
Go into windows audio settings (right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar --> playback devices) and select the device hooked up to your mobo audio device. The click configure in the bottom left corner and make sure it is set-up to output 5.1 audio.
