More details please.

When did the black screen happen? Is the computer posting (can go into bios, has a Motherboard splash screen of somesort) or does it not even make it that far? "booted to black screen" can describe a wide range of failure.

List your components. What CPU, memory, video source, power supply, hard drive are you using?

I very recently had to return the exact same motherboard for being DOA, but in my experience Gigabyte makes quality motherboards, especially the UD3H series. The package my motherboard came in looked like it travelled by tornado, so I wasn't surprised by it being DOA, and won't hold it against Gigabyte for my bad luck.
