I appear to have lower than expected FPS from my ATI Radeon 5870.

OK, system specs:
GPU: XFX Radeon HD5870 1gb @ stock
CPU: Intel core i7 930 @ stock
MOBO: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
RAM: 6gb G.skill DDR3 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 (X.M.P Profile)
HDD: Seagate SATAII 500GB 16m Cache(ST3500418AS )
POWER SUPPLY: Corsair HX-750 (750 watt)
CASE: Coolermaster 692 with 3x case fans
OS: Windows 7 x64

'Crysis GPU Benchmark' Results

With catalyst drivers supplied on the disc:
All specs Very High, 1920 x 1080, 8xAA, The average FPS at the end of the 2nd loop: 27.06 FPS
All specs Very High, 1680 x 1050, 8xAA, The average FPS at the end of the 2nd loop: 31.05 FPS

With Catalyst 10.4 suite drivers off AMD website:
All specs Very High, 1920 x 1080, 8xAA, The average FPS at the end of the 2nd loop: 29.03 FPS
All specs Very High, 1680 x 1050, 8xAA, The average FPS at the end of the 2nd loop: 33.29 FPS

Are these results correct for the card? What results do u guys get with the same card? Any suggestions to solve issue (if it exists)?

It would be great if you guys with the same card or even similiar or worse card, could run the 'Crysis GPU Benchmark' on the C drive at one of the settings stated above and let me know your results?

Note: All others drivers - excluding the GPU drivers (which are at 10.4) - are the drivers that came with the cd. Also, I have not done any windows updates because that computer does not have internet (waiting for new modem)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It would be better that you tested other games too,but as for Crysis it seems fine to me

With Tom's rig which has a faster CPU,they got 31.4 with 8xAA ,and you got 29 on 1920x1080(which gives pretty much the same FPS as 1920x1200) and on 1680x1050,they got 37.4 with 8xAA and you got 33.29,and as i said they are using a faster CPU.
So overall it seems normal too me

Yep there running the i7 975 at 4.0ghz - so could be the 5fps difference between mine and toms rig. That sounds ok then, thankyou very much for your help, it is really appreciated!

It seems that even the 5870 is still pushed hard by Crysis.

Have a great day/night guys where ever you live!

Thanks Kiban - That really confirms it for me :)

Thanks ZipZoomFlyHigh - it seems crysis is still the one of the top gpu intensive games. nice to see my card performs with the gtx480 for around $300 less!

Thanks again Mazair! I will be installing that. I really appreciate the extra effort :)

Have a great one guys :)
