What is wrong with power supply I originally picked? Is Thermaltake a poor brand? Also, isn't the power supply you picked incompatible with the motherboard and video card?

No, but corsair is higher quality and better reliability and it usually is 119$

Also, Your 4850 is a little weak there, you can go for a 5750 or 5770 with DX 11 support and be set for many years :), and it runs very cool also, only about $20 more for a 1gb one Oh, and your motherboard has integrated graphics, so no 4850 anyways..... may I suggest this ASRock M3A770DE: Socket AM3, AMD 770 Chipset, ATX, just make sure it's compatible

This is what I am looking at for around $640, you may be interested. :) This includes 4GB memory, 5770 GPU, Phenom X4 955 3.2GHZ.
