Building a computer on a $1200 budget?

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: By the end of the month

BUDGET RANGE: $1000-1200

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: An all around build but mainly for gaming

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Reusing a monitor (1280x720). I’d like to focus on just the tower so everything else like mouse, speakers, etc... is out. No need to suggest them unless it’s a really great deal.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg is fine with me. As long as shipping isn’t ridiculous. I’m in US btw.

PARTS PREFERENCES: MoBo- Gigabyte, Case- Antec, and Graphics Card- ATI

OVERCLOCKING: Yes SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1280x1024

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I’m not building this for myself, it’s for my cousin. This is actually my second time building a computer so I’m still a novice at this :o  but I knew she could get a better one if we did it this way. She insists on keeping her monitor (don’t ask why).

Here are a few links of things I’ve been looking at:

Intel Core i7:

Motherboard/OS:

Case/Power Supply:

CD/DVD Burner:

Memory:

None of these are set in stone btw.

Thank you for your time!

Couple of Recommendations:

1) Just get the i5-750! The i7-875K really isn't worth it... IMO

2) Get this PSU / Case Combo from what you listed... It is more than you need but is a great deal after all of the rebates!

3) Switch your RAM to this for $2 more (better timings!!)...

4) Since you don't list a GPU, I would recommend this one since the monitor resolution is so low!!

5) Your MOBO, DVD and OS are good choices.
