So I have 2 CD optical drives in my PC, both are SATA. Drive E is a CD ROM drive, model iHDS118-5, drive F is a CD/DVD burner model iHAS424-Y - Both are Lite-on. Drive E works fine, I can insert a CD for ripping to the HDD and it works like a charm. Drive F is another story. I insert a CD and it just sits there, nothing happens. If I navigate to it it doesn't register that anything is there to read. about the only thing it will do is run a game, if I insert the game DVD and run the executable shortcut it runs fine, so ovbiously it's able to read disks, it has just decided not to cooperate. OS is Windows XP SP3.

Thanks.

Solution
Try it in another computer. Then, if it does not work properly there, replace it with a Samsung or LG drive.

I have owned one Lite-On. It died after 9 months.
