I'm considering making my first mid range cheap gaming pc. im gonna use an external dvd-rw, not worried about hdd either and i want to use my tv as my monitor, but i am concerned about what case and psu to use, i keep reading dont use a cheap psu and that leaves me a little scared...and i would like to know what anyone thinks of the cases with psu I have posted here. Any other feedback would be awesome!

More about cheap gaming build good
  1. Go for an XFX radeon 5750, exact price for a whole better card! I would use Google shopping and then find one from there but all looks good, I think you might want to look into getting an athlon amd x3 435 RANA for $70 and unlock the 4th core :)
  2. That's not a great build. About the only thing I'd keep that you listed would be the RAM. The GPU is very low powered. The PSU is absolute crap. The board is overpriced, as is the CPU. Here's what I would get for the rest (I'm assuming a $400 budget):

    CPU/GPU: X3 440 and HD 5770 $225 after rebate
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 $80 after rebate
    Case/PSU: Antec 300 Illusion and Earthwatts 430W $105

    Total: $410

EDIT: Actually, because of this combo (above board and 4 GB of 1600 mhz CL 8 RAM) I wouldn't keep that RAM. You'd save $5 and only need to get one rebate.
  3. Admiral, you're correct, the cpu is crap seeing as a NON black edition is CHEAPER, unlockable 4th core(black edition also) and just as good, I liked the bottom case though.

    is 430 watts enough?
  5. Definitely. The 5xxx series doesn't use a lot of power.
