My mother's pc is about to die.
Its a 5 year old HP, and it needs a replacement.
The budget will be around $500, but anything cheaper is better.
She only uses her PC for emailing and some general webbrowsing.
I think she'll need 1Tb hard drive, but just some cheap cpu and gpu will do.
Max case size is micro-ATX.
What about an atom with some onboard gpu and a spinpoint?
Suggestions are welcome.

I just want a good web-browsing PC for less.
She only needs a case and everything inside it (no monitor/kb/mouse), no OS needed.

Something like this perhaps?:
Mobo+CPU: ZOTAC NM10-B-E BGA559 Intel NM10 - $139.99
GPU: BIOSTAR Radeon HD 4650 512MB DDR3 - $49.99

Im guessing she doesnt want a flashy case, but this is pretty cheap. You can probably take out the blue led fan if you dont want it:

CPU+Mobo (if all shes going to be using it for is email and web, no need for a graphics card. this has integrated graphics that will work just fine.)

PSU/ Disk drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.418942

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231190&cm_re=g._skill_ddr3-_-20-231-190-_-Product

Total: 314- 30 in mail in rebates.

^edit: Beat me to it. Very well dine. +1

If all she is doing is web browsing, etc I highly doubt she will need 1TB. 500GB should suffice.

Anyways, personally I don't recommend an Atom unless you want it for a NAS,etc or on a netbook. It's quite under powered imo.

My recommendations:
Samsung F3 1TB:

Gigabyte AM3 motherboard:

AMD Athlon II X2:

Cooler Master case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119203
(Probably too much "gamer" look  )

ATI 4350:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125251

Corsair 400CX:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139008

GSkill Ripjaws (2*2GB) DDR3 1333:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231275

Total: $442 (Before rebates and shipping)

This will last much longer than an Atom build imo and will be significantly faster than an Atom.

Oo thanks for the suggestions.
She often watches movies on her pc, doesnt she need a graphics card?
Also, i prefer a 1Tb hard drive, she got quite alot of movies.
