Asus P8P67 Pro CPU Red Light, Won't boot

So, I finally got my asus p8p67 pro revision 3 board yesterday. Set up everything to the best of my ability, but can't get my pc to boot up. I see a red light turn on in front of the ram where it says cpu led. The computer makes a loud boop noise but doesn't get any further in the boot process. Anyone have any ideas?

swap ram to other 2 slots if it does not work CPU faulty

So this issue is pretty straight forward then I guess?

I tried swapping the ram, this time I got a green light by the memory test. I don't remember a light turning on before.

But, I'm still getting the red light for the cpu, and the strange noise.

ok so ram problem fixed are u sure u put the CPU in properply and did u connect the heat sink and the heat sink power supply to the MOBO?

The RAM needs to be installed in the 'Blue' DIMM slots and properly seated. Also, the 4GB density RAM often needs the voltages to to raised slightly.

For now go into the BIOS and set AI Overclock Tuner -> XMP ; this sets {Frequency, and CAS} to Rated values.

I think I found the problem, when I removed the heat sink and inspected the cpu holding area, there where several bent pins. The cpu itself looked ok, but I'm going to return it also to be on the safe side

Yeah, if your CPU Pins are bent RMA the MOBO. {You 'can' if you have a very steady hands use jeweler's tweezers and straighten them}
