Extrenal Hard Drive Failure

Hello,
I am so mortified, I am desperately trying to access my Seagate Free Agent Go Flex external hard drive and i can not get onto it. The usb is showing as connected but when I try to view anything that is on it I get an error message saying that The Parameter is not correct. Is there anything I can try and do to fix this. All my family history of 10 years is on here!!!

It sounds like the drive is broken. The information is too valuable to be playing around with testing. Unplug the drive and discontinue further use untill you are ready to recover the data.

@Active Partition Recovery's bootable recovery disk is your best option short of taking the drive to a professional.
