$600 build (Athlon II x2 260 + ATI 5850), Ready to pull the trigger!

I'm pretty confident with the cpu, gpu, psu, hard drive, optical, etc. But I'm not really sure on what mobo and memory to get. This is my first time building a gaming computer and I want to make sure I've chosen good quality compatable parts. What do you guys think?

More about build athlon 5850 ready pull trigger
  1. looks good
    but just for good measure
    recertified means previously failed
  2. cpu:atlhon x3 440
    mobo/case:gigabyte 770ta-ud3/rosewill fb-01
    gpu/ram:ati 5770/ocz platinum 4gb
    psu/hdd:antec earthwatts 650watts/seagate 7200.12 1tb

a 5770 maybe would suffice your needs? and the hard drive is more powerful than the one you picked. and a the cpu would help you more.

and buying an open box is not recomended

    total:$567.93
  3. The 5850 is a great GPU, but I would be concerned that the x2 CPU can't feed it. I definitely second upgrading to the Athlon II x3 since it's a minimal cost upgrade.

Also what res is your monitor? A 5770 may be able to do everything you need and save you a decent amount of $$$.
  4. 5850 get it or wish you did later your choice
  5. 5850 would be overkill if he's gaming on a 17inch monitor. just go with the 5770. it can play games at high or max. not just at 1080p. you can save more money and invest in more powerful gpu. say. the gtx 485? with the gf104 .i think
  6. $584AR

    1. Negative on OCZ RAMs if better option available
    2. OCZ PSU fine but no to StealthXtreme series (not 80+ certified)
    3. Try not to go recertified/open box
  7. What kinda games, if you don't mind my askin?
  8. Yes it will be used for 3 monitors on 20" widescreens.
  9. 5850 FTW

Could you please put together another system like that on newegg and email me the cart or something? I had put together this sweet deal but apparently didn't jump on it fast enough. kurtcrosbie@gmail.com

Sometimes even Egg gives no guarantee of compatible combos and the AM2+ 940BE with it's Integrated Memory Controller strictly DDR2 is incompatible with the DDR3 RAM i'm afraid
  13. ?????? the DDR3 controller is not going to work on that chip ?

on release of the chip it was supposed to have both DDR2 and DDR3 mem controllers
  14. The AM3 socket Denebs (925, 945, 955BE, etc) have IMC that can talk to both DDR2 and DDR3 unlike it's AM2+ Deneb predecessors (920, 940BE) ^^
  15. oh well thanks and .......that should help OP

thats not tru, a X2 260 CPU is enough for even 5870
  17. yuo want the Athlon II X3 445 min. Most games today use an average of 2.75 Cores, and rising.

for $600 you can do a LOT better than a used hard drive. a new 1 TB should be doable. Note this is $600 and doesn't use any combos or promo codes. you coudl get cheaper with promos or combos:

    AMD Athlon II X4 640 (3.0 GHz): $99.99

man there are only 2 or 3 games that use more than 2cores
if u see the test u wont get anybetter fps from x3 or x4 core over x2core so
and in fact u will pay more cause x3 and x4 cores use more electricity
  19. $600 and under one could actually land a full blown Deneb + HD 6850 :p

    $574AR
