Looking to build a mid range sub $1,000 computer system.

Is the GIGABYTE GA-790XTA-UD4 still a relevant board given that the 890's are out? I do not plan on cross firing and I need a board that will last 4-5 years. Primary Use: Gaming. Also, what are considerding good timings for DDR3 1600? Thank you.

yes the board is fine..but i have no clue about the ram timing's google it

CL7 is good for DDR3 1333MHz or 1600MHz, in terms of actual time latency, CL7 at 1333MHz is the approximately the same about of time as CL9 at 1600MHz. Dont spend too much extra to get tighter timings though, it wont make a very significant impact on performance.

I'm not computer savvy, I'm about to be building my first rig next week, but one thing that I regret is being talked into an AMD CPU and compatible MOBO. Reason is: I recently learned about dual booting, and someone told me I should forget about it because I have an AMD build and getting OSX to run much less work properly is going to be very hard.

That's not going to stop me though.

Good Luck!
