Does intel chipset 945 run 64 bit?

Hello,
I have 2 computers(laptops). Sony Vaio VGN-C190G Core2Duo T5500 1.67ghz 667 FSB i945GM Chipset...Dell E1705 Core Duo T2400 1.83ghz 667 FSB i945PM Chipset...The T5500 is 64 bit cpu the other T2400 is 32 bit instruction set. Is the board and chipset limiting my ability to jumb into 64 bit world on both boxes.

I have a 1705 running vista 64 but the chip is a t7200. You will have to update some drivers. I also am not promising it will work for you either just that I have it running and have read that win 7 64 bit works also.
Ah I was just looking and this is the cpu you said was in a dell so it will not run 64 bit just 32 bit.

No, the only hardware relevant to using a 64-bit OS is the CPU, therefore you can use a 64-bit OS on the Sony but not on the Dell.
