I am going to be using 2 GTX 460s in SLI at 1920x1080 until the 485s get released and dell drops the U3011. Going to go 2x 485 at 2560x1600 then which will probably around October. I heard, i dont remember where, that the 485 were supposed to draw less power and run cooler than the 480, not by a great deal but noticeable (10-15%).
I am wondering should I get a nzxt 1000W or ax1200. The AX1200 would be overkill for the 2 460s I will use until October and possibly overkill for 2 485s. The nzxt will have less head room on the 485s but I read a review on newegg and the guy said after hours of 3dmark his system was pulling 935W with 2x 480s and OC'd cpu. And was pulling around 750 during real gameplay. 250W sounds like a nice bit of head room. I think the AX1200 would be more efficient but I am not sure by how much. What do you guys think.

Edit: I also read in a review that the NZXT Phantom, case which I using, has some rubber PSU standoffs that might interfere with some larger PSUs. A problem which I would like to avoid but I can't find any info on whether or not the AX1200 would have problems. I know the hale90 will fit as seen in a picture on nxzt.com. Ironically enough the same pic has the hale90 1000W, rampage III, and 2 what look to be 480s installed.

I have used a few calculators and gotten mixed results. This one says my system's min. psu wattage would be 858 and rec. wattage 918 at 90% load. full load said min. 964W, rec. 1014W. Really makes me question the accuracy of calculators. I do believe the nzxt could run 2x 480s but I am uncertain about the head room. The ax1200 is more efficient I do believe. I may just go with the nzxt though.
