X-Fi Infinity works without drivers

Hello,

I am using Windows 7 and noticed that, when outputting sound from my x-fi infinity outputs, sound works just fine without drivers. I do run into problems when I install the latest windows 7 drivers but it works and sounds good without the drivers.

Is this normal? I just want to know if I am getting the most out of my sound card, because I really can't tell.

Part of the bloat of Windows 7 is software support for pretty much every device out there.
