I have a fake RAID controller the Adaptec AAR 1420AS Serial ATA Hostraid controller with two 500GB drives attached in a 2008 r2 server. Is it possible to move both controller and drives attached to the same channels on the controller into to another windows machine and maintain data integrity? I'm backing up 200GB as I type this. I want to move the RAID stack to a Windows 8 Pro machine running client Hyper-v to replace my aging server and have less hardware. I'm not positive about the Adaptec drivers but I've have had no issues running x64 win7 drivers on the Win8 machine ..... so far.
