The 445 MBOX is a C3 stepping derived from a Deneb core. The 440 IBOX listed on newegg is a C2 stepping derived from a Propus core. They do make a C3 440 also, that being derived from a Propus core. This taken from info listed on CPU World.

For $5 more I would get the C3 Deneb core, but that's just one opinion.

They are both derived from the propus core.

The older x3s and x4s were derived from deneb with a disabled L3 cache. But now all are propus so there is no L3 cache to disable. There is no model numbering to be able to tell if it was harvested from deneb or from propus.

But yeah, there are two versions of the 440

The only difference is the stepping, which is just minor modifications, the only major effect of which is a slightly lower core voltage in the C3 stepping. The 445 has only one stepping version: C3.

The only major difference between the 440 and the 445 is the 0.1GHz.

Stepping codes used for Ibox 440: AADHC AD and CADAC AD

Stepping code used for Mbox 440: AADAC AD

Stepping code used for 445: CACAC AC

Guess I'd like to retract my earlier statements if you'll let me.

After communicating with someone on another forum who unlocked a c2 440 to an L3 Deneb, I remembered fellow member simon12 showing us a 440 he unlocked to an L3 Deneb. So it's obvious there is other stepping codes being used in the C2 440's other than just the data CPUWorld has accumulated.

With that said, I'm sure that C3 Propus stepping codes will surface in the 445's as data is reported.

What is the difference between the two besides the .1 ghz increase.

The 440 is a C2 and the 445 is a C3.
