Would the Setup Work???

Hi all :hello: ,
i just wanna update the GPU of my secondary old rig "DELL XPS 400" (reason: want best possible FPS in the latest RTS like C&C4)

Current Specs:
Pro -Pentium D 930 (Dual Core) (64Bit enabled) (Visualization enabled) (Speed Step enabled) (65nm) 3.0Ghz (2MBX2=4MB Cache/800FSB)
Mobo-D945P
Ram -512MBX2 DDRII
GPU -Stock Nvedia 6800 (256MB) on PCI-Xpress
PSU -Dell original 375Watts (30A/12V) with eXt PCI-Xpress connector

Update: ONLY GPU NOT PSU

Clear Limitations: "CPU Bottleneck" and "PSU rating"
*GPU should be updated to a point where the current PSU could conduct it easily and must not bottleneck with the CPU at the end (which is quite old but working great) else all the excess power of GPU would be waisted for nothing at all.... ="effective" and "efficient"

-i have XFX 5670 512MB DDR5 in mind because it's official Power requirement is 400Watts and it's performance is good as per price, has better FPS than 9800gt in RTS and as per my knowledge the setup could work well-

Now please suggest me whether the setup would really work or the GPU would be practically waisted? if yes then what best possible card would u suggest?

Waiting for intelligent replies... :bounce:
Thanx in advance

I think it'll be enough.

DUdez i know that my PSU can dig it but i was concerned about bottlenecking of the cpu this time.. as the CPU is P D 3.0(4M/800FSB)....????

either upgrade your psu or revise you graphic card wish list if you still have questions or doubts.
you can overclock the cpu (i know it's a dell). since it's your secondary rig your good.
when you got a few extra bucks to throw around research and see if you can make the jump to C2D or quad.

The 945 chipset doesn't support 45nm Core 2's.

GuyZ can't upgrade the cpu.. this rig can max out to dual core (65nm) may b old c2d but are very hard to find.. and after all this dell rig was made to integrate and work best with P D...

if it would bottleneck "a little" than it could be edible enough.. ?
or suggest any GPU that justifies the setup... other than 5670...

I'd get the 5670 though, there'll be a little bottleneck, but you will notice a big improvement.

The HD 5670, mainly because it's newer tech (40nm vs 55nm), runs cooler and it doesn't require a 400W+ PSU, and it has DX11 capabilities. The both cards perform around the same.
