Hey all, building a new gaming rig soon and wanted some opinions on my part selections

I figured the easiest way to do this would be to link to all the components on newegg:

CPU: Intel i-5 Quad Core

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus III Formula

Video Card: Radeon 5850

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaw 4GB

PSU: Corsair 750W

Case: Thermaltake Element V

Everything else I have covered.

Thanks for any advice you have.

Ditch the Formula board for an Asus P7P55D-E Pro. It's a lot cheaper and you don't lose any useful features.

Switch the RAM for etiher the G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 GB 1600 CAS Latency 7 or similar Eco sticks. Get the Eco sticks if they're not more expensive. Both sets are faster than than the ones you choose.

Here's a slightly cheaper 5850. It's still an XFX card, but just get whatever brand is cheapest. There isn't any difference between the different brands.

Do you need an optical drive?

This combo for the 5850 will save you another $3 and net you a free power strip

Curious why you went with the V. It's basically just a taller G that goes back to using 120mm fans (wtf? y?) so it's same airflow for more noise.

Awesome combo. I'm willing to bet that disappears soon though. Newegg doesn't like to keep free stuff up long.
