Hello,I'm having a problem with the CD/DVD player. I have checked in the device manager to see if it was working properly and it is.But the slide-out door does not open and I've tried to use the pin to open it and put the CD/DVD in, but when I do it does'nt play at all. Please help me find an alternate way to make use of it.It came with a software bt name of WINDVD 2000 and the hardware is an NEC. I think it connected to the SOUNDBLASTER CREATIVE card installed inside. HELP!

Dvd players will work regardless of the software. They should open any file on the cd/dvd. No software is required unless you want to burn a blank. You probably have a jammed cd inside. Keep working on it, and if you just cant get it working, check newegg. They've had dvd burners as low as $18 shipped recently. The slim designs may cost more if that is what you need. They will work in your dell, but may not match the case exactly. Not worth buying from dell just to get a color match.
