Best dual amd 12 core atx motherboard w crosshair

Solution
Duh - then there ain't no 12-Core AMD CPU for ANY Consumer MOBOs.

@prv - What EXACTLY are you looking for? What CPU? I get multiple GPUs. What does "Best dual amd 12 core atx" mean??!!??

Crosshair IV Extreme AMD 890FX; best CPU as of today -> AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz 6-Core; NO 12-Core support for Opteron 617x Magny-Cours 12-core CPU.

edit: keep in mind I run all sorts of PC/Workstations/Servers. So I 'know' about 12-cores...
Welcome to Tom's Forums! :)

Well obviously there are $1,000~$1,300 Socket G34 AMD Opteron 617x Magny-Cours 12-core series CPUs; they're for Workstations and Servers.

And there are Server MOBO's like the SuperMicro H8QGi+-F that can support 4 X 12-Core CPUs or 48-Cores total http://www.supermicro.com/Aplus/motherboard/Opteron6100/SR56x0/H8QGi_-F.cfm

And there are MOBO's like the H8DG6 then can support a Single GPU and 2 X 12-Core CPUs or 24-Cores total http://www.supermicro.com/Aplus/motherboard/Opteron6100/SR56x0/H8DG6.cfm {3/1/2 PCI-E 2.0 x16/x8/x4 (in x8)}

However, I'm not aware of ANY that support CrossfireX {assuming 'crosshair' is meant to be CrossfireX}, you could use the GPUs like ASUS ARES/2DIS/4GD5 Radeon HD 5870 X2 or HD 6990 which are essentially CrossfireX internally with 2 GPU processors but on a single PCIe.

If this is for 'Gaming' it IS a horrible waste of money, games crap-out after 2~4 Cores so you'll have 20-cores just sitting there doing nothing...

not for gaming, but need workstation. I have some mixed legacy gpus and would like to upgrade the mobo/cpu then the gpu's at a later time. Asus Crosshair IV Extreme AMD 890FX Motherboard allows this i believe.

APPRECIATE YOUR HELP

^ Read again, I was NOT recommending -- I was Demonstrating. There's NO MOBO that's Socket G34 + Crossfire.

Further the 'TYAN S8225 (S8225AGM4NRF)' is not compatible with the Socket G34, Opteron 617x Magny-Cours 12-core CPUs.

An ATX, DUAL Socket G34, Opteron 617x Magny-Cours 12-core MOBO = NONE
Opteron 617x http://www.supermicro.com/Aplus/motherboard/Opteron6100/

Time for a NEW EATX Case and forget the CrossfireX other than Internally!

Judging by the language I would assume this is not the use, but a multisocket workstation board with multiple pci-e slots could be used as a powerful parallel compute workstation. The cards don't need to be in crossfire to run opencl workloads.

If you were building this sort of setup though you'd probably ask dell, hp, etc for a quote for one, rather than try and build it diy.

i can accommodate a EATX mobo, was trying to wait on costly upgrade of gpu's by using four older nvdia several gen. behind but capable of oc. so have great storage would need mobo, mem, and cpu upgrade only.

agree this is probably best
