Why is L4D2 looking SO BAD in my 7100GS?

Hi.

You may think that my question is stupid ''BECAUSE IS A LOW PROFILE OLD ASS CARD YOU IDIOT'' Well...No...

I overclocked this little thing. core 350/471 and memory 400/800. Playable framerates at 1280 x 720. The problem is it looks like this:

Looks like a N64 game...I took these ones before my 8800GTS died.

You can see there is A LOT of difference in lighting...I don't know why... Even if I turn shaders to Very High sun looks AMAZING but i don't see those shadows and everything is so...bright indoors (not common in L4D2)

I found this interesting video showing EXACTLY what I'm saying.

the 6200 oloks as my 7100GS does. The 7300GT looks like my 8800GTS did. Why is this? I'll try with my dad's PC 7200GS.

Thanks.

PS: I'm waiting to get all the money for a XFX 5750...

Well with that card the default settings for the game will be VERY low for everything which is why it will look terrible, if you tweak the settings in game you may get better but your framerate will suffer

7100GS Specs, note that I posted these specs with tears in my eyes..

Memory Interface 64-bit
Memory Bandwidth 5.3GB/s <---- LOL
Fill Rate 1.4 Billion pixels/sec <------ BAHAHA
Vertices/Second (Millions) 263

That's what I did and said in my post. I thought it were the shaders but i turned'em up to very high and same results. After some research I notices that 7100GS does NOT support HDR and another lighting engine... Is that the cause of this NeoGeo look?

Memory Interface 64-bit
Memory Bandwidth 5.3GB/s <---- LOL
Fill Rate 1.4 Billion pixels/sec <------ BAHAHA

I wonder what are the specs with that massive OC. Perfomance got up like 40%

It's funny to think people will feel the same way about the GTX 480 one day :B And people will say "its not a gaming card." Technology is interesting eh?

Yes and No

While your logic is sound, I'm going to have to disagree

While GTX 480 may one day be laughed upon, it had its moments - broke few records, ruined couple of marriages, emptied some wallets. So the GTX 480 can look back with a smile and say "Oh the good old days..."

Can't say much for the 7100GS tho, being the 1, and GS all in one whop-ass package, it was the loser right from the start.

Well yeah I get what you're saying, Since it was the first Dx11 card for the company and a high end card from the start.

The difference is, in years to come the GTX480 will simpl be a dated card 'no longer suited' for gaming. Just like the 8800GTX, and all old cards.
Whereas the 7100GS was never designed as a gaming card even in its prime, pretty much cards with less than 4 as the second number are non gaming cards

Well. The 8800GTS and GTX were and are still very respected as the top of their times...Good times nvidia...Good times...

Even 5900 were gaming cards, no matter if they can't run BFBC2 at medium details with more that 5 FPS. LOL.

Ok, when I get home I'll test with the 7200GS to see if it's the HDR and the other lighting thigs have to do with this.

Ok guys. I got the 7200GS and saw a BIG BIG difference. look at some screenshots I took...

98011404-3.jpg

Big difference...Huh?

I pushed this card to the limit with this OC. Makes L4D2 1280 x 720 playable (+40 FPS) and still working more so TF2 gets playable too.

Default clocks:

Well...after some research I discovered it is the Ultra Shadow II technology (and maybe the HDR). The 7100GS has a lack of both =)

Thanks guys. Now I'm waiting to get my XFX 5750 =)

What CPU are you using by the way?? I'm not trying to crack fun but a $50 9600 gt would be a monster increase for your performance,

I noticed you have the fps on the top left corner. Where did you get that? I hate the default netgraph.

I meant a 9600gt would be alot better then that 7100gs lol. Have you overclocked you CPU? If so what's you ghz?

You could get a hd4870 used off the forum pretty cheap and I'm sure it would kick butt at 720p. I play on my 32inch LCD HDTV that is only 720p. I love it, I have a nice big screen. The res is low so I don't need a monster video card and with it bing a pc game it still looks sweet when younturn the settings up.

scape: it's xfire default FPS counter. it sucks big time, try using the one from FRAPS.

Anonymous:I've now got a HD 5770. My CPU at almost 3.0 Ghz and it's bottlenecking my card...
