Can my motherboard support this processor

i have an acer em61sm/em61pm motherboard with a amd athlon64 x2 3600+ processor in it. i want to get an AMD ATHLON II X4 640 3GHz CPU but i dont think this will work. does anybody know if this processor works with my motherboard?

No, that won't run. Your board is socket AM2, the CPU you're asking about is socket AM3. While it will fit, it will not run.
