Which one is better: 1 stick 4 GB or 2x2GB dual-channel?
I'm also looking upgrad-ability to 8 GB too, in which I buy another stick and put them together.

If you're talking about your Q6600, don't upgrade to more RAM. You already have 4GB.

But performance wise, dual channel 2x2GB beats single channel 1x4GB. You can benchmark with Memtest86+ to check. FYI: 1x2GB should get roughly the same throughput as 1x4GB at the same speeds and latencies.

Are you building a new PC? If so, you can find 8GB kits for $65 after rebate ($75 without) periodically.
