Firmware update before installing windows?

I recently ordered a OCZ Vertex 4 VTX4-25SAT3-256G 2.5" 256GB SATA III for my first build i was going to use it to install my os on it, i've been recently told that i would have to update the firmware on it before actually installing windows on it, is this true?

It makes sense to update to the latest firmware, but only if the drive was shipped with an older version installed. The release notes (which you should ALWAYS read before installing) will tell you whether or not the update is (data) destructive.
