9800gtx on an 430w(still got a question at the bottom)

ok well here are my system specs

amd triplecore 2.1ghz
4gb ram
thermaltake 430w
8600gt (currently)

ok well as you can see my 8600gt isnt cutting new edge games so i want to upgrade to this.....

and well im wondering if it will run on my computer because i dont feel like buying another powersupply because i had to get a new one also for me 8600

your thermaltake is not a great PSU and offers few amps on its 12v rails for a 400w+ PSU.

you may be able to get away with running a 9800GTX+ but it may not last long

I suggest you upgrade the PSU or get an ATI 5750, it offers the same performance as the 9800GTX+ while using less power

P.S. I would also look into a CPU upgrade.

so ure saying the 5750 is the same proformance as the 9800gtx and it will run on my current psu?im not experianced with ati ... whats the diffrence with nvidia and ati........ btw what do u meen the 9800gtx wont last long

the 5750 runs cooler, needs less power, offers DX 11, and has similar performance to the Nvidia 9800GTX+. That is the difference between the Nvidia and ATI cards. Both will run games just fine.

its not that your 9800gtx+ won't last long, its that your PSU constantly running at peak power to power the card won't last long.

you completely shure that the 5750 ati will run on my 430w powersupply? just making shure before i buy the card...... i punched my system into the power calculater with the 5750 and it says recomended 395w

you can run the 5750 on a solid 350w PSU, it draws less power then a 9800GT
