I have the opportunity to snag a Sony Vaio AW240 at $900CAD, which I plan to use for among other things, gaming. I'm going to be playing Halo: Combat Evolved, NFS Underground 2, NFS Carbon, Star Wars Battlefront II, and Halo 2 Vista on it.

System Specs:

Core 2 Duo T6600(2.2GHz)
4GB DDR2 PC2-6400(2x2GB) @800MHz
NVIDIA 9600M GT 512MB
18.4in screen, 1680x945 screen resolution
320GB SATA 9.5mm 5400rpm HDD
DVD Drive

Will the AW be powerful enough to play these games on full?

none of those games are graphic demanding
keep the eye candy (AA & AF) down and you will be OK, the 9600m GT is a solid gaming card for a laptop.

On newer games, you will have to play at medium settings

It might be a little hard for 9600M GT to play at 1680x945...
Yes, you can play all that games on your laptop, but not with HIGH setting.

most of those games are incredibly old, i would by much more optimistic than the other two. i think you may well be able to play at max details. maybe Carbon will need some lowering, and im not sure about how well ported Halo 2 is, but they are still all very old games.
