RAM conflict + Windows 7

After lots of trial & error to find out what's causing my windows 7 to hang intermittently, I finally found out that it was my RAM that is causing the problem hence I had to remove one piece (1GB) to run without problems. I had no problems running Windows XP.

Is there anyway or some general settings in the BIOS which I can set to resolve this RAM conflict issue?

Thanks!

Thanks Noworldorder for the prompt reply, my PC specs are definately capable enough of running win7. Anyway, I think I just resolved the problem, did 3 things:

1. Clean the tip of my RAMS (I know this doesn't sound the right thing to do)
2. Restore my BIOS to default optimum settings.
3. Install my RAM staggerly instead of side by side.

I am not sure which of the above rectify the problem but if anyone else encounters similar issues, you can try these steps too.
