Improve my build

Hey everyone,

This is the build I was thinking of getting and just wanted some feedback if this is a good build. I don't mind spending a little extra if it will make my build much better or spending a little less. Also, I would like some feedback on my mouse, webcam, and headset choices. Thanks! Some main things I was wondering about is should I spend extra for an i7, should I get 8GB of RAM, and motherboard choice.

Pretty sure your motherboard doesn't support your ram.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I'd go with that. I made the same mistake when I first built my planned rig.

That webcam is fantastic by the way. I have it right now, and the software can be iffy, but the quality is great.

I'd recommend the creative arena sound blaster headphones over those fatality.. Also, how open are you to AMD platform choices.? May be you can invest a little lesser on the processor and motherboard by going with an AMD setup and use the extra cash on getting a better video card (GTX 470) and/or couple of hard drives in raid 0 etc..

Ah, I think you are right that is a triple channel. Hmm, I hear getting over 6GB is useless right now should I get 8GB or just settle for 4GB?

@Emperus: Thanks for the headset suggestion. For CPU and motherboard I have always used Intel that is why I picked it but how does the AMD compare to the i5? And could you suggest a mobo and processor from AMD that is equal to the intel? I don't see the point in getting two hardrives I have an external already and don't really need more than 640GB.

Davcon has the better ram choice. I would personally go for only 4gb, and buy another set when you need to upgrade later on down the line.

Ok, I think I have completed my build. Went with the AMD/Mobo, CPU cooler, DVD drive suggested by Ares. Went with the HD and case and supply that Davcon suggested due to it being cheaper. Will probably get a GTX 470 now instead of the 5870 because it will be 50 cheaper than the 5870 since I won't be able to order the 5870 during the 10% off sale. Last question though what is the difference between the two RAM that Davcon and Ares suggested? The Eco version takes less volts so will probably go with that unless someone points out one is better than the other at certain things.

the one thing you have to do id get either the 1 tb f3, or 500 gig f3, not the 750 gig one, as u loose the whole 500 gig platter thing, so the hdd would come from my build. and the 470 runs HOT and needs a lot of energy. you wont be able to xfire it probs, and it doesnt offer the same performance as a 5870, id say the 5870 is 5% to 10% better in performace, and it runs A LOT cooler and takes less energy. and basically, lower voltage, less heat, longer life, higher oc.

Ah, thanks for the info on the 470 guess I will transfer funds from my savings so I can get the 5870 tonight. What do you mean by the hdd thing I don't understand it.

the samsung f3 is the fasted 7200 rpm hdd. this is cuz instead of using 4 250 gig platters, it uses 2 500 gig platters. so instead of having to spin up and look thru 4 discs, it needs 2. the 750 gig version takes that away, as this only works for either 500 gig hdd, or 1 tb hdd. so you should only buy one of the 2.

Doh, so the mobo/amd combo deal is gone. Didn't notice that was going to go obsolete. Do you have any suggestions to replace that? Is this a good deal or do you suggestion something better? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.405956 I also saw the same deal but with the 1055t if that one is better.
Edit: For the same price of the above combo I switch for either of these boards. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131366 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131402

I've always trusted gigabyte when it comes to AMD builds and hence my recommendation.. Am sure there are cheaper mobos available but not as potent as the gigabyte one i suggested.. You may consider the Asrock 890FX model which is considerably cheaper.. If you are sure of employing just one video card and don't have any future crossfire thoughts then surely go for either of those You've personally selected.. Any choice that you make will save you some real hard cash which you can either save or invest in getting something better..

im the opposite with gigabyte, i view them as good, but not as high quality as MSI or ASUS. the MSI board is probably the best, unless you know how to fix the nb on the asus.
