Hello,
I just built a rig with this motherboard:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128423

Everything was working great; I was playing games, watching movies and listening to music. I left it for about an hour, and when I got back I couldn't get any sound out of the back panel. I had already not been able to get it out of the front headphone jack, but that wasn't much of a concern. I am getting audio just fine with a pair of USB headphones. I just installed the newest realtek drivers and still nothing--has anything like this happened to anyone before? I don't want to have to rma my board and not have a computer for weeks, and I don't particularly want to buy a sound card, though I suppose that would be preferable. Thoughts?

Double check that Azalia is enabled in bios that is your onboard sound.
Also note that audio controls on Win7 are very different then previous windows version.
You could have very easily muted one or more outputs.
There is an awful lot of audio questions pertaining to Realtek and onboard sound on this forum since win7 was released.
Imo people aren't taking the time to familiarize with the new controls.
I would uninstall those drivers and dowwnload the latest for your board from the Gigabyte website.
