I am preparting to build out a new machine based around the Asus P8P67 Deluxe board and am trying to understand how best to configure my SATA drives.

My drive configuration will be:

1 OCZ Vertex III SATA III SSD (6 Gb/s) - Boot Drive with OS

2 7200rpm 6 Gb/s Drives in Raid 1 Config. - Storage

So my question centers around how best to set these up on the board to maximize the performance of the SSD with the OS.

Do I run the SSD off one of the Intel controllers 6gb/s ports and then run the two data drives in RAID 1 off the Marvells 6gb/s ports? -or- vice versa?

-OR-

Should I drop down to the EVO or PRO boards which have the non-RAID Marvell controller save a few bucks and then run the two data drives in RAID 1 off the Intel controller and run the SSD off the Marvell controller?

-OR-

Should I just run all three of the drives off the Intel controller?

Any help would be most appreciated.

-Curt

I have the same board and I haven't seen any performance differences (or much, less than 1%) using either, but when you RAID you should use the same chipset for both drives, both controllers will work fine in terms of speed.
