No audio coming from LCD monitor

I just got done building my new computer a few days ago and have been fiddling around with it. For the first few days i was using headphones to listen to my music and that worked fine but the other day i ran an audio out wire to my new Hanns-G LCD monitor and i get nothing. I was wondering if any one else had this issue. Is there an easy fix for this or do is it possible the speakers are dead on my monitor. Any help would be appreciated.

Start with the simple stuff:
1. Make sure the audio line is in the right output for speakers.
2. Make sure you have your headphones unplugged. Most motherboards mute the speakers when headphones are plugged in.
3. Go through your monitor menu and make sure the speakers are not muted or the volume is turned way down.
4. Go through the audio outputs in device manager and make sure that the speakers are enabled.
