Hello, I had my computer build but ever since i got it the thing will turn on then turn off after 1 sec anywhere from 2-10+ times before it will really turn on. when it is on I have had no other issues. I was thinking my surge protector might be at fault. I know it is not my power supply I have a 1000w pcu what.

You have zero reasons to suspect the surge protector. On its box is a number. 330 volts let-through voltage. That means it is nothing but a $3 power strip when voltages are less than 330 volts.

Your symptoms are consistent with the power supply controller turning off the computer. Reasons why are numerous - too many to list here or in any other post. Any post that suggests one reason for failure would be based in too little information.

To first know what is failing means only one minute with a multimeter. On a 20 VDC setting, measure voltage on each listed wire as power is applied - as the power switch is pressed. These wires are measured where the power supply connects to the motherboard by probing inside the nylon connector. Report what is observed to three digits from any one purple, red, orange, yellow, and gray wire. Then one can identify the one or very few suspects in the next post - without wild speculation or shotgunning.

Best information comes from a multimeter while not disconnecting anything.
