The MCSE program has proven to be flawed to such a degree that it is a wonder it hasn't been abolished yet. It needs to be completely restructured in order to have some meaning, why are so many companies against this idea? ummm
400,000+ MCSEs out there, big money...

I abandoned my MCSE a long time ago. It's stupid to "learn the book" to pass the test and then get to the real world and find you are lost.

I install/upgrade/troublshoot circles around every MCSE I've met.

I agree with you Smilin, it's a shame more people don't have the guts to stand up and say 'wow, this is really stupid i'm not gonna do it', unfortunately i belong to the group that succombed to the pressure and went ahead with my MCSE cert. anyway. If more people did put down the book as you did, that would leave Microsoft with no choice but to reevaluate the MCSE program and restructure it into something meaningful: tougher exams that include more real life scenarios, and required 'lab' classroom time that involves specific scenarios.
