I had to get a new GPU but I'm wondering if my processor will hold it back.

It's an athlon II x4 635 and a gtx 460 1GB

the video card might not reach its full framerate at lower resolutions, but it should run anything you can throw at it fine.

There wont be a relevant bottleneck, you will get playable frame rates with high settings at high resolutions.

I have a CPU """"bottleneck"""" with my GPU setup. It doesn't mean my CPU is slow. Define bottleneck for us.

I hate the word bottleneck. CPU or GPU limitation is a better term.

the bottleneck will also vary, given the situation. Some games are more CPU intensive, some more video card intensive, screen resolution is a factor. No the CPU will probably not feed that gfx card to its max, but the system will be able to play pretty much anything at high resolution. when a game comes out that requires more cpu power, then upgrade it.

You didn't define your resolution, if your gaming at 720p than yes the cpu will hold it back, if you game at 1080p or higher, than probably not.

This will honestly vary between games, some demand a lot of cpu power, and other demand a lot of gpu power.

Overclock that cpu, and I would doubt there is any bottleneck.
