Hello and thanks for any help.
I just built a Windows Home Server that I would like to put in my bedroom. I ran a Cat5e cable from my router in my home office to the bedroom. I would also like to add a Cat5e cable down to my living room to also access the server. Because of the way my home is set up, I was thinking of connecting the router cable to the uplink input of the switch. Then I would connect one cable to the server and a different cable down to the living room. My real question is, should I instead have a direct connection to the living room from the router(no switch)? I do have an available port on the router. Using the switch will make my installation easier. However, will it cause any degradation in my network speed? (Router/cable/network cards are all 10/100). Thanks! :wahoo:
