Questions about USB ports

Hi I got a few questions in regards to USB ports.

1) If I was to directly connect a USB like so what would happen?:

|.....|[/fixed]

What I am trying to show is if I was to cross all the connector.

2) If I was to cross the 2 power ones what would happen?:

Help would be nice.

In the diagrams
.=empty space
|=connector
-=the inside part of the connector

The inside connectors are data I think and the outside ones are power.
