Can we use both ide hard drive with sata at same time

hi, my system model is compaq presario SR1921IL and now i m using an IDE hard drive of 80gb and i want add one more hard drive but on my motherboard it is printed as SATA beside SATA drive pins and I m confused whether I should buy an IDE or SATA hard disk.

My current hard disk is IDE, so my quest is
whether I can use both IDE and SATA hard drive?

is there any problem when using both?

please help me out.

As long as your board supports both types there should not be a problem with using one of each. When sata was gaining ground most systems had options for both as your system does.

You should verify the connection you are talking about is definitely a sata connection though, maybe post a pic if thats possible and someone here can verify.

The original Motherboard is a MSI RC410M-L and it has 4 SATA ports. You can and a SATA disc, but look for the power connector fist. It might be you need an adapter cable.
