Hey guys, I'm new here -- just signed up today. However, I've been coming to this website as a reader-only for years. I've decided that since my HP DC5750 PC is a bit out of date, I'd try my hand at some building... and what better place than TH to get some advice and help for a novice like me.

Anyways, I've done my research and here's what I've come up with so far:

(BOUGHT)Ultra X-Blaster Case - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2337810&Sku=ULT33178

(BOUGHT)Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128435

Phenom II X4 955 BE - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103674

(BOUGHT)Ultra LSP550 550-Watt PSU - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276574&Sku=ULT-LSP550

RAM ???

I can't decide on which RAM to pull the trigger on, I've heard from multiple sources that G. SKILL RIPJAWS just arn't good for AMD boards. I think I'm wanting to get 1600mhz, so some help on which kind of brand would be very helpful..

I'm getting the 890GX board because I don't have enough money to buy a nice graphics card as of yet... and I do have a HD 5450 laying around that I can hopefully use with hybrid crossfire x. This board seems to have all the features I want -- decent overclocking, SATA 3, USB 3.0, etc, etc.. Hopefully I made the right choice since I'm not really a heavy gamer.

I've got a CD/DVD/RW laying around so I don't need one of those, and I also have a WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD as well.

Oh, and the case doesn't come with any fans, so I bought 2 of these to hold me over:

Let me know you think, and thanks in advance.

Just wanted to run my choosings through the TH vice I suppose... was looking for some constructive criticism on what I've chosen and if I made any mistakes....

but yeah, RAM is where I'm really stuck.
