Dvd not reconized in my computer

i have a hp laptop,i have a driver for my dvd,but won't play or show, in (my computer)

Does it show up in Device Manager?
1. Click on Control Panel
2. Click on System
3. Click on Device Manager
Look to see if it shows up there.

Does it show in the BIOS?
