New Catalyst ver. 10.5 makes my 5870 run much hotter?

I've downloaded the new Catalyst driver version 10.5 this morning, and the first thing I've noticed is that my Radeon 5870 runs 10 degrees hotter while idle. I'm 100% sure that with the previous version 10.4 it was 39C-41C at most when idle; now it can reach 52C while idle with this new driver... And I've not changed anything that can affect my PC's temp.

My questions are:
(1) Has anyone else experienced this overheating issue with the new driver?
(2) Suppose that this is how the new driver works... Is it safe for my video card to be idle at 50C for long periods of time? like a week at a time?

Of course I can switch to manual fan control and change the fan speed to 70% which will make it about 40C at idle... but the damn fan is so loud that I cannot stand its noise.

Any thoughts?

10.5 catalyst have this known issue taking your 2d clocks from 157/300 to 400/900 if you OC gpu/ram through Overdrive.
Do different profiles for desktop/gaming/idle
or
roll back to 10.4
