Hey everyone, I'm planning to do a massive upgrade to my current PC setup. The first and most important part of my upgrade is my motherboard replacement. I want to buy a much better gaming motherboard than my current Gigabyte EP43-DS3L. It features a LGA775 CUP socket and I currently have my Core 2 Quad 2.6GHz in it. The Quad is the root of my problem of deciding whether to buy a new Intel i5/7 or keeping the Quad in case money is an issue. So do I keep my Quad if I can't afford an i-Series CPU or go for an AMD based board and get a Phenom? Thanks!

Its a real tricky situation.. First things first though, how much are you willing to spend.? Do you wish to go for a SLI or crossfire setup.? Give your complete specs for your current system (including brand names and model numbers)..

Upgrading your Core2 motherboard without upgrading the CPU will not get you much. The EP45's are not much better than the EP43's. And if you decide to replace both, you may as well, you may as well go AMD or i5.
