AMD phenom II x4 955 vs core i5 760

Hey guys,

Just a wondering whether the extra cost on the core i5 760 is worth the performance boost when compared to the AMD phenom II x4 955, which is a bit cheaper but loses in some gaming benchmarks and what have you. I could go with either two, but If I went with the phenom I could get a better gpu etc.. So which would you guys reccomend? Is the performance boost worth it?

Cheers

More about phenom core
  1. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

    AMD Phenom II X4 955 3934 77 26.23 $149.99*
    AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 5157 38 25.79 $199.99*

    Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.80GHz 4593 55 22.40 $205.00*

Not really worth it, buy the x6.....
  2. I'd recommend going with the 955 and putting the CPU savings towards the GPU.
  3. What GPU are you running ATM?
  4. Get the AMD chip and put as much money as you can for your GPU. This is for a gaming rig of course. Intel is really worth looking at if you live near a microcenter though. i5 750 is 149 860 is 199 930 is 199 760 is 169.
  5. Ahh, thanks guys. Current GPU I'm running an ATI 4650 (awful I know) , so then I think I will put the money towards the AMD then as there's not much difference..ooo unless I use my current gpu now and upgrade it in like a month and get like a better CPU with the extra money , ohh the possibilities :(
