HDD compatible with ASRock 960GM-GS3 FX Motherboard

I am in the process of buying some parts in order to build my own computer for the first time. With the motherboard I am going to use:
ASRock 960GM-GS3 FX Motherboard ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASRock-960GM-GS3-FX-Motherboard-Instant/dp/B006HHD8AY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346592994&sr=8-1 )
I was intending to use this HDD:
Western Digital Caviar Blue 250GB SATAIII ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Caviar-SATAIII-Internal/dp/B00461K1QW/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1346593077&sr=1-1 )

However i was told that the motherboard does not support SATA3, it only supports SATA2. I have no idea what SATA3/SATA2 actually mean and would be very thankful if someone could explain it to me and possibly post a link to a suitable 250gb HDD for around the same price or cheaper.

Thanks

  1. That SATA 3 hard disk is compatible with SATA 2 controllers. Refer to http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/search/1/a_id/1400#jumper for jumper settings and enable PHY if need be.
