CD/DVD Drive won\'t recognize new discs, but plays old ones...

Put in a new DVD-R disc in drive D and I get "Windows can't read the disc in drive D" Can you solve the problem please. :(

Hi thanks for the reply - OK it is fitted to Dell Desk top and according to the device manager is "TSST Corp DVD+ - RW TS-H653G :)

How old is this drive and have you tried other new media.

Yes, it is just the same. Apart from this non-recognition it functions OK.

I have just burned onto the same non-recognized DVD a movie I made on "Pinnacle" and then asked it to make a disc - of which it did.
