I have EVGA 9600GT 512 MB.The fan of the card is giving problems. It doesn't start when the system starts but after using MSI afterburner it starts rotating, but with a slow speed. Its speed has slowed alot and because of this my GPU temperature is getting alot high upto 80 C while idle.I have cleaned the crad as well but still so use.The fan is getting very irritating.

My specs are:

Intel C2D E7300 2.66 GHz
Asus P5k VM DO
Cooler Master 460W PSU
2 GB RAM.

I suggest you take out the card and remove the cooler then remove the fan. Once you have the fan off you might as well clean out the dust get some motor oil or WD40 and remove the sticker on the back of the fan then lube it. It should spin more freely after you do and once done put the sticker back on and repaste the cooler. In a nutshell this is what you got to do or buy a new cooler.

if you activate auto fan control on msi afterbuner you shouldn't have problems.

If you can't get the fan working after a thorough cleaning, you will have to buy an aftermarket cooler. It isn't safe for a GPU to go above 100c, and it looks like yours will easily.

Alternatively you could upgrade to an HD5770.
