Hello,

I recently bought an HP Pavilion dv7-4051nr laptop. It is nice, but I'm already thinking about upgrading it. It contains a Phenom II P920. The question is, can I substitute this for a Phenom II P940?

It would not be a big upgrade, hardly worth the money and the TDP of the 940 might be to high for the HP motherboard.

And it is a laptop, which sometimes has soldered in/hard to change components.
